You will have a diverse and intensive programme of training that will facilitate you with the subject specific skills and knowledge enabling you to graduate as an industry ready professional.

Performers College?offers the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre (Dance) through two distinct pathways: Dance and Musical Theatre.?Which pathway is right for you will?depend upon, your skills and interests, the subjects you have previously studied and what you want to do with your degree when you graduate:

  • Dance Pathway is a course for those who wish to major in different dance genre and choreography, whilst still studying acting and singing.
  • Musical Theatre Pathway focuses on producing ‘triple threat’ graduates who are able to gain employment utilising the skills sets involved in dance, acting and singing.

Teaching and assessment

Each academic year of our BA (Hons) Musical Theatre (Dance) degree consists of three?terms.??In your first year of study, you will take classes in all disciplines and learn the fundamental elements and techniques of each genre.?Your studies will include a variety of dance styles, anatomy and physiology, Pilates, ensemble and solo singing, vocal technique, improvisation and character development, vocal anatomy and correct use of breathing. ?All subjects will be supported by reflective journals of personal development and contextual awareness.

The second year is when you will commence with either a dance or musical theatre pathway. Dance students will undertake a choreography module and musical theatre students will undertake a musical theatre analysis module.?As the course is designed to be progressive in nature, the second year of study continues with more advanced skills and techniques of all the subjects covered. It also includes additional modules for both pathways as detailed above and the introduction of devised performance projects and tutor led performances. This year is also supported by reflective journals and contextual awareness.??

The final year of study focuses on mature professional awareness and skills and culminates in four different performance opportunities,two of which take place within a professional theatre. A detailed knowledge of professional practices is acquired alongside an understanding of employability and promotion of self.?The course contains core modules required to provide you with the breadth of knowledge and skills needed for a career in the professional performing arts industry.?An in depth personal performance project documents and critically?reflects upon your experience during yourpreparation and performance of your?final showcase.
